Finally bought a frame to re-rebuild the mountain bike. The '93 Hard Rock Ultra will be torn apart and its various bits will be reborn onto a Sette Reken 18" aluminum hardtail frame. To be fair, the only original parts on it are the seat post, BB, and the frame itself. Maybe I'll dig through the parts bin and turn the old frame into a rigid singlespeed afterward. Preliminary parts list:
New to me, but not new:
Marzocchi Bomber Alloy Z.2 fork
Avid Juicy hydraulic disc brakes
Bontrager carbon fiber riser handlebar
RaceFace headset and stem
From the old bike:
SRAM X.4 shifters
SRAM X.7 RD
Truvativ cankset
Deore 8-speed rear hub w/ Ukai rim
SRAM from hub, Alex rim, XLC rotor
Nashbar saddle & grips
Alivio FD

Day 1
Picked up the bike last night. It came with a plastic bucket full of parts and a fistful of wheels. One notable item is a complete, hardly even used Mavic Mechtronic wireless electric shift kit. Also have some very cool old-school Campy derailleurs and shifters.
I think I have enough parts to build it up in a variety of ways. Period-correct? Retro-modern? Dunno. I don't even know what year it was made. Maybe I'll start by making it a working bike first. I think round one is going to be a 2x9 setup with the Campy crank & derailleurs and a Shimano cassette & shifters. We'll see where it goes from there.
